I make on my spare time all kinds of free/libre open source software, most prominently maybe resources for Uralic languages. Most of these have never received any funding and therefore I've been working on spare time, which is luckily quite possible within academia but the further you get the thinner the spare time for doing so is. The ideal would of course be to work full-time on Uralic resources such as corpora, spell-checker, analysers, machine translators and text-to-speech :-)
