The Gaming Against Violence program produces and publishes prosocial video games for teens intentionally designed for violence prevention.

The program hosts the annual Life.Love. Game Design Challenge which challenges game designers, developers, artists, and writers to create a prosocial video game based on that year's theme.

Game Themes

From 2008 through 2016, all games were about healthy relationships and teen dating violence prevention.

Impacts

Gaming Against Violence has produced more than 70 prosocial video games. Students, teachers, and parents around the world have played, and learned from, these transformative games. In 2022, the program was recognized as a Top-50 nonprofit program in the United States for its innovative use of video games for violence prevention.

In 2010, the game Grace's Diary received the Community Pillar Grant from Penny Arcade.
In 2014, Gaming Against Violence received the Trailblazer award from Break the Cycle.
In 2016, Jennifer Ann's Group was a finalist for the Media Mover Award from TAG Digital Media & Entertainment Industry.
In 2019, the game ADRIFT was repurposed as a life-size exhibition at MOD. museum at University of South Australia.
In 2019, the game Rispek Danis was a 2019 Finalist at Games for Change Awards for "Most Significant Impact."
In 2022, the game Culture Overlord was a 2022 Finalist at Games for Change Awards for "Best Learning Game."
In 2023, the game MushWhom? was the Silve-E Awards winner for Best Design at DreamHack Atlanta.
In 2024, Jennifer Ann's Group, was recognized as Changemaker by Everytown Survivor Network.
In 2024, Jennifer Ann's Group, was an invited speaker for the HHS: Listening Sessions about teen dating violence.
In 2025-2026, Jennifer Ann's Group is a project participant in the NIH-funded Project Tidal.
