TAD is the short form for "The Architect's Desktop", a free architecture design system. It is one of the oldest architecture design software that is still in use today. It predates development in BIM (Building Information Modeling) We believe BIM often does a disservice as it focuses mainly on the final building that emerges after a design process. But not the design process itself. TAD is a design tool that helps designing right from very early stages of designing all the way to the final, and even beyond i.e. during usage. It is a useful engine for designing even virtual environments such as a metaverse.

But TAD is not a conventional BIM software nor is it a drafting software.

TAD came from a very small office; one of Ar. Sabu Francis; an architect from India. It went through years of vetting -- in various international conferences and journals. It was used in two research projects on energy in architecture; conducted jointly between Sabu Francis & IIT (Indian Institute of Technology Bombay) at Mumbai.

I would be very grateful if you can take time out and deeply understand this, use it and spread its use all over the world; especially the developing countries. And of course, a donation will always help. It has been a tough haul, maintaining this project over 30+ years.
